Notes

He, his wife, and first born baby had a narrow and miraculous escape from Mau Mau terrorists. They escaped through the toilet window and hid in a grain silo having pulled the ladder up and into the silo with them. The Mau Mau ransacked the farmstead and burned it to the ground having also destroyed tractors and other equipment. The toilet was the only room in the house that had a lock and this bought them sufficient time to make good their escape. During the entire event baby Philip made no noise!
