Notes

Married on the day of her return from England. Named 'Emily' after her grandmother. Hated the name even more than her grandmother had disliked it. She adopted the name 'Mamie' which was a development from 'Me Me' being the manner in which she referred to herself as an infant. When her mother died Mamie was sent to a boarding school in Brussels which, as time would reveal, was the same school attended by Kay Maurice (the mother of her future daughter-in-law in Africa).

Mamie had an iron will and a very determined pioneering nature.
