About "Noel's Fire Pages"
|
"Noel's Fire Pages" was intended primarily as a starting off point for serious research into all aspects of fire science, management and operations. When I started researching on the Internet, there was no World Wide Web with all its amazing search facilities. Using the old command line methods -- FTP, Telnet, Veronica, Archie and the rest -- was a painstaking and time consuming process to find contacts and sources. "Noel's Fire Pages" began as a way of making my sources available to others who may find them of use.
I was born in Perth Western Australia (WA) in 1930 and have lived here all of my life so far except for five years in Papua and New Guinea (1949-1954). I have one wife, one daughter, one son and two grandsons. I joined the Western Australian Fire Brigades as a Fireman in 1955 and retired as an Assistant Chief Officer in 1986. In 1979 I was created a Life Member of the WA Fire Brigade Employees Union which later became The United Fire Fighters Union of Western Australia. In 1976 I attended Overseas Fire Prevention Inspecting Officers' Course No. O/S FP 2/76 at The Fire Service Technical College, Moreton in the Marsh, UK and in 1980 I attended International Senior Command Course 1/80 at The Fire Service Staff College, Dorking, UK. I qualified as a Graduate of The Institution of Fire Engineers (UK) in 1973 and as a Member in 1975.
