Pterostylis barbata is the most common of the bird orchids. It has sparse hair on the labellum.

This orchid is found within about 200km of the south coast and flowers from October to December. Has a much more hairy labellum then P. barbata. Widespread throughout the wheatbelt, this orchid is distinguished from P. barbata by the smaller flowers and plants and the very short point of the dorsal sepal.
